20 Things You Somehow Missed In Pulp Fiction
6. Related Characters
From Reservoir Dogs through to Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino’s movies are all connected. There may be loose connections like Red Apple Cigarettes being smoked by Pumpkin and advertised by Rick Dalton, but often it goes much deeper than that.
In Pulp Fiction alone, there are several characters that are related to others from throughout the Tarantino universe, though some are more blatant and others more subtle. Take for example Christopher Walken’s Captain Koons, the man who ultimately passes the fateful watch from Butch’s father to Butch.
He can be traced back to a character who only appeared in Django: Unchained in print, his great-great-grandfather Crazy Craig Koons. The other familial connection between Django and Pulp Fiction is quite simply a racist called Maynard in the former, and a racist called Maynard in the latter.
The more obvious connections are that Pulp Fiction’s Jimmy Dimmick, played by Tarantino himself, and Reservoir Dogs’ Larry Dimmick, otherwise known as Mr. White, are brothers, as are the most famous Tarantino siblings, Vincent and Vic Vega.
