20 Things You Somehow Missed In Raiders Of The Lost Ark

6. The Old Paramount Logo

Starting with this film, it is a hallmark of the Indiana Jones franchise that Spielberg would find or create mountains, gongs, and even gopher hills to represent the iconic Paramount mountain.

However, what is less noticeable is the fact that, for the first three Indiana Jones films, Spielberg used an older version of the actual Paramount logo, which describes the film as "A Paramount Picture". The company stopped using this form of their logo in 1968 and, indeed, it has only been used since by the Indiana Jones films as an affectionate nod to the time period in which they are set.

Of course, when Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released, Paramount was no longer "A Gulf + Western Company", but rather "A Viacom Company", so the Paramount logo had to change, sadly forcing Indy to move with the times.

Contributor

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
