20 Things You Somehow Missed In Shutter Island

11. Teddy's Jacket Is Too Big

Shutter Island
Paramount Pictures

Here's something that basically leaps out at even fairly unobservant viewers from the outset: doesn't it seem like Teddy's jacket is a bit too big for him?

While on an initial viewing some might simply dismiss it as a mistake of the movie's costume department or an indication of Teddy's own sloppiness, it's actually an incredibly straight-forward hint that Teddy isn't really who he's presented as.

Teddy looks like somebody playing dress-up because that's precisely who he is - evidently the Ashecliffe staff couldn't be bothered to size him up and buy a new jacket, so just used whatever clothing they had lying around for the experiment.
