20 Things You Somehow Missed In Shutter Island

4. Teddy Refuses To Look At Laeddis' Intake Form

Shutter Island
Paramount Pictures

At the end of the second act, Chuck tells Teddy that he took a detour to Ashecliffe's patient files area and found an intake form for Andrew Laeddis, which he then attempts to show Teddy.

Teddy says he'll look at it later, and when Chuck asks him what the matter is - given that Teddy's aloofness seems a tad out of character - he defensively reiterates that he'll look at the form later.

In retrospect, this is evidently a case of Teddy being unconsciously aware that the form will contain his true identity, and so choosing to avoid looking at it as it will shatter his present dissociative delusion.
