4. What Went Into That Original Lightsaber Sound

You've done it. I've done it. We've all done it.

And by it, your writer of course means making the iconic noise that comes after switching on a lightsaber like you're just about to battle Darth Vader in a Death Star corridor.

But what actually went into creating that legendary hum?

Well, epic sound designer Ben Burtt was once again behind the magic here, using what would've been a rather familiar noise for students at the time, a humming old 35mm projector, and a 70s tube TV to create what is now unquestionably the most imitated sound the galaxy far, far away has ever produced.
