20 Things You Somehow Missed In Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope

14. The Bantha Was Played By An Asian Elephant

Keeping with the folks native to the desert world of Tatooine, it's time to shift the focus over to the loveable mountains of fur the Tusken Raiders are often found sat atop over the course of Episode IV.

And while you may have often found yourself wondering precisely how the likes of George Lucas and co. were able to convincingly conjure up an alien creature that looks like something you could very much attach a saddle to in real-life, the truth is that this particular Bantha actually was.

In reality, the horned gentle giants were brought to life by none other than an Asian elephant by the name of Mardji.

And while the gorgeous girl was able to get through her required shots in the end, she understandably wasn't the biggest fan of the heat in Death Valley. So, the poor trained elephant actually routinely found herself trying to get the annoying fur and horns off of her body mid-way through scenes.

You can't exactly blame her.
