Tarantino has a knack for creating characters who are heavily implied to be the ancestors of other characters in his more contemporary-set movies, and The Hateful Eight is certainly no exception.

Local hangman Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth) is later revealed to actually be Pete Hicox, a member of the gang seeking to spring Daisy from custody, and given that names are never given out randomly by Tarantino, it's fair to assume that Hicox is an ancestor of Inglourious Basterds' Lt. Archie Hicox (Michael Fassbender).

Accepting that they're both British, it tracks, and if there was somehow any remaining doubt, Tim Roth himself stated around the movie's release that he was indeed the "great, great grandfather" of a character from Tarantino's World War II epic.
