No matter how hard a director tries, there’s always going to be one major flaw that slips through the cracks that simply can’t be fixed. For all its accolades, even The Shawshank Redemption is guilty of a glaring mistake in the very framework of the film.

The fictional Shawshank Prison is located in Maine, but the movie wasn’t shot in the state. This means that most of the actors and extras aren’t from Maine, either. As such, the very heavy and distinct New England accent is nowhere to be found in the film.
