1. The Boondock Saints
The Boondock Saints is impossible not to love. Being at once a comedy, crime drama, action and revenge thriller, TBS transcends genre and the audience's expectations with every scene. The dialogue is hysterical, the characters wonderfully ridiculous and cool, and the action is constantly exciting and fast paced.
The film stars Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery as devote Catholic brothers in Boston who, sick of the crime running their streets, decide to take matters into their own hands and rid the world of evil. As they hunt down and eliminate the criminals ruling their town, they become controversial heroes in the community and find themselves hunted Willem Dafoe's FBI Agent Paul Smecker.
Oh, and for a bonus, Billy Connelly turns up in a role which is fantastically against type and funny, whilst being oddly intimidating.
It's hilarious to watch. Dafoe steals the show as the by-the-book lawman who finds himself driven insane by his inability to catch the brothers, and Flanery and Reedus are unstoppable as the witty, intelligent and hard as nails vigilantes. Every scene is executed beautifully; every character is perfectly drawn. This isn't a film worth missing out on.
