20 Unluckiest Movie Characters Ever

10. Carl Fredricksen - Up

carlfred If you€™re a human being with any emotional capacity at all, you were no doubt devastated by Up€™s opening montage, depicting the married life of Carl and his wife Ellie, the ups (puns are cool, right?) and downs, financial struggles, the crushing news of their inability to have children, and her eventual death. In memory of Ellie, Carl attempts to fly to Paradise Falls, a dream shared by the two of them but incomplete at the time of her death. So unlucky is Carl that he can€™t even do something lovely without being chased and attacked by the crazed man who was his childhood hero. You could probably argue, however, that Carl is lucky to have known such an enduring love (with Ellie, not his childhood hero) at all. And after you remarked upon this, we could all smile gently, quietly cheered by the thought, and we all go our separate ways with a spring in our step and a deep desire to be characters in a Pixar film.
