20 Upcoming Films You Should Be Worried About

20. Fantastic Four

Release Date: August 7, 2015. The Buzz: Josh Trank (Chronicle) directs a gritty reboot of the classic comic book franchise, starring Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic), Kate Mara (The Invisible Woman), Michael B. Jordan (The Human Torch), Jamie Bell (Thing) and Toby Kebbell (Dr. Doom), with the hope of eventually leading into an X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover movie down the line. Why You Should Be Worried: Because rebooting a series that only launched a decade ago leaves a very sour taste from the outset, and a number of the creative choices (such as turning Victor von Doom into a hacktivist called Victor Domashev) sound incredibly dodgy. How It Could Surprise Everyone: In fairness, the trailer wasn't totally awful, and this could be a fine example of low expectations resulting in one of the summer's most unexpected successes. Trank is certainly a talented director, and with X-Men: Days of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg on board with a talented cast, maybe it'll justify its own existence.
