20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Might Surprise You
12. Twilight of the Dead
Twilight of the Dead has been touted as the final entry into George A. Romero's iconic collection of zombie films, and though Romero himself passed away in 2017, he co-wrote a treatment for the film, which would focus on the last remnants of humanity fighting to survive the undead plague.
In 2021, Romero’s widow Suzanne Romero revived the project, with new writers being brought aboard to deliver a script consistent with Romero's vision.
Now this is definitely a tricky one, because to many of Romero's fans Twilight of the Dead simply won't be a Romero Film because, of course, he wasn't alive when the actual script was written.
And an ungenerous reading of the project could view it as a craven attempt to cash-in on the man's legacy one last time.
But there are some slivers of hope here - for one, Romero's original co-writer Paolo Zelati returned to collaborate on the final script, Romero's legendary make-up artist collaborator Greg Nicotero will provide the gore effects, and it was recently confirmed that Kate Beckinsale will be starring.
The jury will absolutely be out on this one until it releases, but with so much passion and drive to make this a worthy closer to Romero's run of zombie films, it just might hit harder than you think.
