20 Upcoming Movies That Made INSANE Casting Choices
14. Dwayne Johnson - A Hawaiian Crime Boss (Untitled Martin Scorsese Thriller)
Now here's a casting choice just about nobody could've ever in their right mind predicted.
Back in March, it was announced that Dwayne Johnson is set to star in a new Hawaii-set crime thriller from the legendary Martin Scorsese, with Johnson tapped to star alongside both his regular collaborator Emily Blunt and Leonardo DiCaprio.
The story will untold in the 1960s and 1970s as a Hawaiian mob boss, played by Johnson, attempts to build an all-powerful island empire while battling to preserve his ancestral land.
As unfathomable as it seems for Johnson to be leading a Scorsese crime epic, it's apparently happening, and seems to further Johnson's recent efforts to star in more serious-minded projects, following his Golden Globe-nominated work in The Smashing Machine.
It of course remains to be seen if this thing will ever actually go before cameras considering how many announced projects Scorsese has on his plate - as well as being 83 years of age - but if it happens and Johnson pulls off a great lead performance, he'll surely silence his doubters once and for all.
