20 Upcoming Movies That Made INSANE Casting Choices

Much as folk turned their nose up at Chris Pratt's casting as Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it evidently worked well enough to gross more than $1.3 billion globally.

And the impending sequel The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is fielding out some more weird casting, what with filmmaker-actor Benny Safdie being hired to voice Bowser Jr. of all characters.

Wait, what?

Though Safdie is a solid actor with a number of quality roles under his belt, it's simply tough to see what led the filmmakers to land on one of the guys who directed Uncut Gems for Bowser Jr.

Moreover, Safdie's Bowser Jr. in the film sounds absolutely nothing like his more high-pitched equivalent in the video games.

One can perhaps assume that the decision was made to hire a voice actor who sounded more similar to Jack Black to ensure aural continuity between father and son.

Either way, it's a weird-as-hell choice that just might work.
