Amongst the most famous of all war movies, David Lean's epic drama chronicles the efforts of a British Officer (Alec Guinness) as he struggles to lead a group of P.O.W.s in Thailand as they attempt to construct the bridge of the movie's title. Beautifully shot and masterfully paced, this is exciting, explosive - and ultimately - tragic stuff.
