7. The Lion King - Be Prepared
The Lion King remake was a disaster. The photo-realistic CGI was completely wrong for the story and sucked the emotion out of every scene, the performances were weak and worst of all, the songs were absolutely ruined.
The songs come down to animals running out in circles and apparently singing, but because of the realistic animation their mouths barely move and it doesn't look like they're actually singing at all. While 'I Just Can't Wait To Be King' and 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight?' were also pretty bad (for example, the latter song takes place at day, not night!), Be Prepared is butchered the worst.
In the original this was a great song but here, Scar's (Chiwetel Ejiofor, who gives a bizarrely forgettable performance) signature song barely even counts as such.
It's more of a spoken, growling rant that Scar recites while jumping around in circles in a very silly manner with some music in the background. Thanks to the film's realistic aesthetic, all the magic and fantasy of the 'Be Prepared' sequence in the original film was completely lost.
This is arguably one of the worst examples of a remake ruining an iconic scene Ever. It's really that bad.
