20 Worst Movie Moments Of The Decade

6. The Last Airbender - Earth Tribe Rebellion

Movie 43 Hugh Jackman
Paramount Pictures

The Last Airbender was possibly the worst blockbuster of the decade. The white-washed casting was controversial and M. Night Shyamalan was having a rough time, so people thought it might be bad, but it's unlikely any imagined it being this bad. The Last Airbender is an excruciating viewing experience... especially in this horrendous scene.

In this sequence, protagonists Aang, Katara and Sokka incite a rebellion by an earth tribe against their Fire Nation captors and while it's supposed to be a triumphant moment, it's highly likely viewers will instead be rooting for the Fire Nation to subjugate these insufferable characters.

With risible dialogue ("The Avatar would have to be an air bender. Are you an air bender boy?"), flat direction and ghastly acting, especially from an unforgettably bad Nicola Peltz, this contains all of the film's flaws and amplifies them up to 11. It's also a simply laughable sequence as a spectacle, since it's basically just people doing ludicrous air karate dances in order to make objects and people float slowly through the air.
