20 Worst Movies Of 2014

12. A New York Winter's Tale

Rotten Tomatoes: 13% Confusingly titled and unlinked to the Shakespearean classic (which is presumably why Britain added the geographical qualifier on release), this magic realist love story clearly imagined itself to be lovely and magical like a cuddle off a fairy. Sadly, it just comes off as ludicrous and unbelievable - the two things films of this nature inherently require the audience to forget about entirely. Martin Scorsese apparently turned this down as "unfilmable", but Warner Bros. ploughed on regardless and entirely fudged the source's commitment to grandiosity by not making it possible to care even remotely about any of the characters. Sample Review:
"How could this film be made worse? Only by giving Lucifer a scene with Lucifer Jr played by Jaden Smith." Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
