20 Worst Movies Of 2022 (So Far)
15. Redeeming Love
Talking of overlong movies, did anyone need this toe-curling Christian western romance to be 134 minutes long?
It certainly didn't help endear anyone to this adaptation of Francine Rivers' bestselling 1991 novel, which despite solid cinematography and a fair effort from lead actress Abigail Cowen, is a stodgy drama filled with unappealing characters while bungling most of its more serious-minded subject matter.
Obviously movies like this are targeting an ultra-specific, narrow audience, and while Redeeming Love might work well enough for them, for everybody else it won't pass muster at all.
Embarrassingly melodramatic and giving subjects such as sexual abuse a highly questionable treatment, this sure is one strange attempt at a "romantic" movie.
