20 Wild Theories For Upcoming Movies
19. Sigourney Weaver Is The Secret Villain - The Mandalorian & Grogu
Star Wars fans were overjoyed when it was announced that sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver would be appearing in the splashy feature film follow-up to the Disney+ series The Mandalorian - The Mandalorian and Grogu.
The marketing subsequently revealed that Weaver will be playing Colonel Ward, the leader of the New Republic's Adelphi Rangers who tasks the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) with heading to the Outer Rim to take out both Imperial warlords and the Hutt Clan.
And while Weaver's casting is clearly a nod to her iconic status in the sci-fi realm per the Alien franchise, it might also serve a sneakier purpose - to hide the film's surprise villain in plain sight.
After all, Weaver has a history of playing powerful, capable, trustworthy heroes, so why would anyone suspect her of being a turncoat here?
Plus, having Ward be secretly working with the Imperial Remnant would make for a far juicier part than that of a glorified quest-giver.
The only real "evidence" that Weaver isn't playing a secret baddie is that she said she was only on set for a few days - though this wouldn't be the first time an actor lied in order to throw fans off the scent.
