Paul Giamatti and his Scooby Doo team of seismologists manage to hack their way into a TV network, via the magical powers of laptops and deliver an address to the nation, but not before the news reporter from the beginning of the film takes time to passive-aggressively chastise the people who are currently being crushed under rubble saying, "They tried to warn us, nobody listened to them." WHEN? Paul Giamatti made vague threats to his students in a early lecture scene, sure, but he never warned anybody about the entire San Andreas fault going up. He made that deduction only after the chaos started. Nobody listened to them, because they literally did not predict this.
