19. All The Damn Prequels (Paranormal Activity 2 & 3)

One of the most frustrating and WTF aspects of the PA series is that, after the first movie ended on a tantalising cliffhanger regarding Katie's whereabouts, the next two movies almost entirely took the prequel approach in order to drag the series out for more box office bucks. PA2, for example, only revealed that it was mostly set before the original shortly before release, with just three minutes of the film being an actual sequel. PA3, meanwhile, is a complete prequel, failing to move the series on and making audiences wait until PA4 for anything remotely new to happen. Regardless of how good (or not) the second and third movies were on their own merits, this was a pretty aggravating approach, given that it made them feel like less "vital" movies to watch in terms of the franchise.
