As is almost always a problem with found footage movies set in the past, it makes no sense at all that Julie's boyfriend Dennis, even being a wedding cameraman, would have access to a widescreen HD camera in 1988. This lack of technical fidelity makes it hard to buy into the fact that what we're watching is supposed to be set over 20 years in the past. Sure, it's easy to see why Paramount didn't want to release a 4:3 found footage movie, but just putting an old-school video timer in the corner every now and then isn't enough to evoke the desired period feel.
