24 Confirmed New Disney Films (& 24 Rumoured) Coming 2020-27

12. PREDICTED - Jungle Cruise 2

Jungle Cruise
Disney

Release Date: 8th July 2022

The Rock starring in a Disney blockbuster is surely a guarantee for megabucks, and that in turn will undoubtedly lead to a sequel. Like Pirates of the Caribbean before it, Disney and The Rock both have to be looking at this as a property with serious franchise potential.

That means we'll probably get a swift turnaround, and two years is fairly typical for franchise instalments these days. Along as this doesn't flop - and that would be a shock - then we can expect plenty more to come.

11. PREDICTED - Spider-Man 3

Marvel Studios

Release Date: 29th July, 2022

While some might be tempted to think that the final Marvel slot currently announced (there will be more, because Marvel will still be releasing at least 3 films a year until they run out of steam and that ain't happening any time soon, sugar) would go to an Avengers movie, 2022 is way too soon.

After Endgame, they need to let the team rest for a good while. Indeed, at this stage, it would come as a surprise if we see that brand revived until the end of Phase 4, with Marvel more likely to focus on expanding more individual properties and cementing the position of the ones currently still in the middle. So Spider-Man 3 fits, not least because Marvel tend to do things in trios.

Quite what the story will be is up in the air, and partly depends on whatever shenanigans Spidey gets up to with MJ, Mysterio, the multiverse, and all the rest in this summer's Far From Home. Marvel have spoken about keeping this a high-school series though, so this being Peter Parker's senior year and seeing him go to prom and graduate would make a lot of sense. Let's just hope Marvel and Sony can make their deal continue.
