24 Confirmed New Disney Films (& 24 Rumoured) Coming 2020-27

38. Bob's Burgers

Bobs Burgers
Fox

Release Date: 17th July, 2020

When Disney bought Fox, they brought in a raft of animation properties that are REALLY not very Disney at all. American Dad is too political, Family Guy even took potshots at Disney's tweeness in the past, and The Simpsons offers a fairly unconventional take on the family unit compared to Disney's ideal. You can also add the delightful Bob's Burgers to that pile.

And as part of the Fox hangover, Disney now have a Bob's Burgers movie to advertise too. It's been in the pipeline for some time now and show creator Loren Bouchard has already said that she knows it has to be something MORE than the show for fans:

“We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who’ve never seen the show.”"We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colours and the sounds and the ever so slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s – but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!”

None at all.

37. Jungle Cruise

Disney

Release Date: 24th June 2020

Disney have had previous success turning one of their theme park rides into a movie, and they’ll be hoping to recapture that old Pirates of the Caribbean magic with Jungle Cruise, based on the eponymous attraction.

Billed as a good old action-adventure, the movie has two aces up its sleeve in the form of its stars: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Emily Blunt. The Rock is a movie star whose ilk is very rare these days, and should generate that this is all kinds of fun (and brings in all kinds of cash), while Blunt is a legitimately brilliant actress who can do just about anything.

The actual plot details are: “Set in the 1930s during the Great Depression, a riverboat captain named Frank takes a scientist and her brother on a mission into a jungle to find a tree believed to possess healing powers. All the while, the trio must fight against dangerous wild animals, and a competing German expedition.”

Sounds exactly the right amount of silly it needs to be, really.
