The Pitch... The new Twilight (since the other new Twilights pretty much failed miserably.) In the future, society is divided into factions based on personality - sort of like Mean Girls, only more grown up - but one girl Tris (which is nothing like Katniss) finds that she's Divergent, and does not fit into one of the factions. She also discovers a sinister plot, obviously. Plus Points The hype here comes from the success of the book, and, inevitably, the industry's attempts to find some more of the dollars that aren't being unthinkably ploughed into the Twilight franchise any more. It should fill cinemas, and excite a certain type of film fan, with its fresh faces and accessible sci-fi, and there's mainstream appeal thanks to Limitless director Neil Burger, and a strong cast including Kate Winslet. The Reservations... Tween-centric sci-fi hasn't exactly done well recently (The Hunger Games aside,) and there's a nagging suspicion that it's all a little bit emo.
