24 Shots That Completely Ruined The Tone Of Classic Movie Moments

4. 2001: A Space Odyssey

2001 Hilarious, but not particularly good for the infamous juxtaposition shot that opens Kubrick's space-based epic, since the distinct lines drawn between the earliest "men" and their futuristic counterparts, which culminates in the wonderful edit of bone to starship, are blurred quite markedly. It's hilarious though, even if it robs a little majesty from the scene this unnamed simian appeared in.

3. The Silence Of The Lambs

Silence Of The Lambs 2 There are a surprisingly large number of set photos from The Silence Of The Lambs - hence the double entry on this list - and most feature an incapacitated Anthony Hopkins larking around with the crew. This particular image is the most enjoyable of the lot, though it compromises the traditional image of Hannibal Lecter as the cool, calculated monster. Usually when he smiles, it is with sinister menace, and in the film there is very little of this obvious glee in the character at all. Still, a great image all the same.
