25 Actors You Totally Forgot Starred In Classic Horror Franchises

12. David Cronenberg

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Halloween H2O
New Line Cinema

The Franchise: Friday the 13th

The Role: Dr. Wimmer in 2001's Jason X.

Why You Forgot: After Jason didn't really take Manhattan in 1989's Jason Takes Manhattan, the franchise was put on ice - save 1993's regrettable Jason Goes to Hell - for over a decade until the undead killer was, quite literally, thawed out for a tenth go-round to see if the series still had life. Critics rightfully destroyed it, it barely made its money back at the box office and Freddy vs. Jason's release two years later served as a welcome way to rinse the bad taste of one of the lowest points in the long-running franchise's history out of many fans' mouths.

Cronenberg, who's responsible for horror classics like Videodrome, Scanners and The Fly, makes a random appearance at the start of the film, but it's all too easy to disregard for those who have no clue what the legendary director looks like.
