Most Recent Film: The Grand Budapest Hotel (2013) Next Film: N/A Best Film: Rushmore (1998) Wes Anderson is one of those rare auteurs who seems to be getting better with age; almost as though he's finding himself, over and over, every time he takes on a new project. Because whilst Anderson's rich catalogue of highly-idiosyncratic, symmetrical films contains a handful of masterpieces, near-masterpieces and just two "minor" works, there are many who would claim with complete and utter conviction that his most recent film, The Grand Budapest Hotel, is his best to date. And it's hard to argue against that notion, because Budapest was a critical and commercial success, plus his highest-grossing movie ever. Anderson is also one of very few directors who you could also claim has never made a bad movie - a rarity even amongst filmmakers of such consistency. Whilst his unique style - God's eye view; '60s pop soundtrack; sardonic, self-deprecating characters - could have run into the realms of parody in later years, Anderson seems to have avoided such a thing. There's a sense that he's only just started - that the best is still somehow yet to come!
