Mad Max: Fury Road might have been George Miller's first live-action film in over 15 years, but it was such a revelatory, genre-busting action masterpiece that the man cemented himself a place on this list by way of its release alone. Now 70-years-old, Miller pulled off a feat that a man twice as young as him would have likely struggled with. It's without question one of the greatest, most unexpected comebacks in all of film history. Miller got his start with the Mel Gibson Max Max movies, of course, back in 1979. Since then, his career has proven to be a curious, scattershot affair. He wrote the script for Babe, and even got behind the camera as director for its weird, underrated sequel. Along the way, Miller has made some solid films - The Witches Of Eastwick and Happy Feet, for example - but having gone back to his roots with Fury Road he made what is perhaps his best film. A follow-up is deemed to be on the cards - we can't wait to see what Miller does with it.
