25 Best Movies About Drugs Ever Made

1. Dazed And Confused

Gramercy PicturesGramercy PicturesThe Drugs: Marijuana, LSD, alcohol, magic mushrooms An altogether more optimistic and uplifting view on drugs can be seen in Richard Linklater's buoyant, vibrant trip down memory lane to the last day of summer, Dazed and Confused. Laid back, amiable and showing warmth and affection for its assembled characters, it's also one of the least judgement and condescending movies about drugs ever made. Set entirely on the last day of school and following a series of characters around (although the main focus lies with freshman Mitch Kramer, played by Willy Wiggins), Dazed and Confused quite rightly dispenses with narrative pull and drama in favour of a sweet sense of nostalgia - it gives you a good indication as to what Linklater's own youth must have been like. Its appeal with the 90s Generation Xers certainly suggests that the same enthusiasm for parties and drugs hasn't really waned in the intervening years, while its charm is impossible to deny.
