25 Best Zombie Movies Ever Made

19. Night Of The Living Dead (1990)

Night of the Living Dead 1990
Columbia Pictures

The original Night of the Living Dead set the stage for the zombies to gain much notoriety within the mainstream and eventually dominate Hollywood for most of the early 2000s, so it would be only fair that this original was revamped for the current crop of moviegoers.

Now, most of the time remakes are totally unnecessary, but sometimes to attract a younger crowd, dialogue needed to be updated, the film had to be in colour and this time, Night of The Living Dead was given a respectable budget.

Tony Todd is fantastic in his role as Ben - the plot still holds even after a fresh coat of paint, but something about the dead in this picture is missing. As if they were trying a little too hard to be faithful to the original, when a new twist would’ve been most welcome.

Sometimes remakes are inevitable and we will no doubt have another Night of the Living Dead in the future, but thankfully the 1990s version didn't disappoint.
