T. F. Mou's Men Behind The Sun may be seen by many to be an exploitation film due to its high level of gore and unsettling imagery, but the film is based on the very real Unit 731 - a Japanese biological weapon research facility that committed various war crimes and atrocities during World War II.

Scenes depicting the organ harvesting of a live subject and the effects of frostbite on the skin are just two of the most memorable. It's a hard film to sit through, but it's one worth watching.
