25 Cult Movies You Must See Before You Die

The Lonely Island are bona fide celebrities. Together, they're the musical comedy troupe responsible for “I Just Had Sex” and “Dick In A Box”. Separately, Andy Samberg is the star of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jorma Taccone is a regular on HBO dramedy Girls, and Akiva Schaffer directs movies, music videos and episodes of Saturday Night Live.

The trio did their best work on SNL, which inspired scores of viral video hits. They were also the stars of one of the most recent SNL movies, albeit one that's a lot less popular than the likes of The Blues Brothers and Wayne's World. Hot Rod might actually have those two titans of movie comedies beat, though – and yet, barely anybody's watched it.

Written for Will Ferrell, Samberg instead stars as an amateur stuntman who undertakes one big jump to pay for his step-father's heart transplant. So that he can best said step-dad (Deadwood's Ian McShane) in single combat and earn his respect. Power rock, non-sequiturs and shot-for-shot Flashdance remakes make for a truly odd, unique cult comedy. Cool beans.
