Road movies make for a good amount of cult movies. Films about horny young men having threesomes with beautiful older women make up another healthy chunk. Foreign films are often in the mix. Alfonso Cuaron's directorial debut combines all of the above, which practically makes Y Tu Mama Tambien the ultimate cult film.
Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal star as Tenoch and Julio, a couple of shiftless pals in Mexico who decide to leave unfulfilling sex lives with their respective girlfriends to go on a cross-country road trip to a mythical beautiful beach on the coast with an equally ravishing older woman they meet at a family party.
The young men's sex lives are forever changed by each of them sleeping with the older woman, and then... well, something else happens. It's a raucous sex comedy that eventually tips over into something much more heartfelt and devastating, with great performances and a keen directorial style that netted Cuaron the Prisoner Of Azkaban job.
