The past decade has seen Hollywood falling deeply into franchise mode. As soon as one of their movies make money, they immediately think of ways to sequel-ize it---even if a sequel is totally unnecessary. Nowadays, these studios plan ahead for sequels despite there being no guarantee that the first movie will do well. I usually take it as a good sign if the director and the original cast return, but this year, there are many cases where that won't be happening. Studios are hoping that the brand name will be enough to get audiences back in the theater. Maybe they're right, but there's a good chance some of these sequels can backfire. That said, there are a couple of films on this list that are definitely worth seeing. Instead of ranking this in order of preference, I decided to list them in order of release date. That way, you can get a better sense of how this year will play out. After all, we're talking about 25 sequels for crying out loud. There are only 52 weeks in a year! How did they find room to release 25 of these bad boys? This is actually a sequel to my previous list: 10 Film Reboots and Remakes To Be Concerned About In 2014. Be sure to check that list out after reading this one.
