19. Marina Sargenti - Mirror Mirror (1990)

A mirror normally provides nonjudgmental feedback to those who look upon its surface. Whether it be a causal glance or a more focused glare, the mirror doesn€˜t lie. On the other hand, if, say, the mirrored surface, the one that just happens to be creepily sitting in the corner of your newly acquired bedroom, is the gateway to a demonic netherworld, the reflections it furnishes may not be the most trustworthy. Marina Sargenti's Mirror Mirror follows a shy teenage girl named Megan (Rainbow Harvest) who moves to a new town with her widowed mother (Karen Black) and quickly becomes the most unpopular girl in high school. But when she starts to communicate with a mysterious mirror, her tormentors begin to meet with a horrifying series of €œaccidents€œ. Needless to say, it's not a coincidence. Mirror Mirror is a fun and harmless horror flick. It€™s not going to win anyone over on scares or gore, but if you want to discover a forgotten gem from an often overlooked era of horror history, Mirror Mirror is a recommended watch.
