25 Greatest Warner Bros Movies Ever
24. You've Got Mail
How dare I suggest a rom-com remake could possibly be up in the top-most echelons of Warner Bros quality?! What scandal!
It might not be quite as snappy as Sleepless In Seattle, but You've Got Mail is among the last great modern rom-coms before the tidal wave of cynicism, needless quirkiness and Nicholas bloody Sparks washed the genre away to sand and slush.
Based on the equally gorgeous Shop Around The Corner (hence the name of Meg Ryan's kids' book store), You've Got Mail trades on the effortless, charming chemistry of Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, the then-newness of email and just enough edge to add balance to the sweetness. It's a wonderful script, with zero fat, and its greatest testament comes in how rewatchable it continues to be.
