25 Greatest Warner Bros Movies Ever

17. The LEGO Movie

The LEGO movie had no right to be good, let alone to be considered among the 25 best films made by its production company. When it was announced, it felt like there was way too much scope for it to become another cash-in for a toy licence like Battleship, Clue, Transformers...

But thanks to a quite wonderful script, brilliant voice acting and a brand of humour that has incredibly redefined LEGO and given it a sort of cool edge it could never have previously hoped for, it soared.

The animation is incredibly clever, the characters impressively broad (considering they're all mostly made of the same stock bricks), and the story is the best part of all. The ultimate twist that the characters have an elemental fear of being glued together permanently and put on display is not only an incredibly clever way to express LEGO's chief creative manifesto, but it also brought with it that irresistible currency of the twist.
