5. King, Queen & Baby Kong
The 1970s Kong actually had his last hurrah 10 years later, in King Kong Lives (1986). Very few noticed at the time, as Kong was no longer A-list Hollywood material and director John Guillermin apparently took the project in an attempt to relive past glories. It begins with Kong revived by a giant artificial heart, after his fall from the twin towers, and ends with him protecting a giant lady gorilla from the jungles of Borneo with whom he's having a baby. It's kind of charming in a schlocky style - though it still had several times the budget of the earlier Kong knockoffs. By this point, few could have visualised another Kong remake on a multimillion-dollar budget level.
