24. The Five Different Theme Song Performers Were€

Although common knowledge to diehards of the series, many are still unaware of the five different artists that performed the theme song €˜Way Down In The Hole€™ across the five seasons. Written by Tom Waits, it was decided at the end of the first season that each would feature a unique version. The first season is soundtracked by gospel-blues group The Blind Boys Of Alabama, while the second introduces the original Tom Waits track, with its blues/cabaret sound. The third is by the popular 70s/80s funk and soul group The Neville Brothers. Season Four features the only version not created by a €˜big name€™ artist €“ instead, DoMaJe, a group of Baltimore teenagers named Ivan Ashford, Markel Steele, Cameron Brown, Tariq Al-Sabir and Avery Bargasse, perform a skeletal hip-hop version.
