19. One Of The Shows Greatest Catchphrases Was Unscripted
If Omar has the most iconic theme, then perhaps the most famous catchphrase to come from the show is voiced by sleazy senator Clay Davis (Isiah Whitlock, Jr.). A manipulative figure that thrives on bribery and blackmail, Davis manages to control figures from all of Baltimores key establishments during the course of the show. He did not take bad news well, however, and tended to react with one vastly elongated word: Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeit! Perhaps the greatest and most extreme example of this phrase comes when Leander Sydnor serves him a subpoena in season four. Yet this was never scripted incredibly, Davis came up with it himself on set while improvising and it stuck.
