6. Alien: Covenant

Release Date: May 19th

Billed As: The prequel/sequel to Prometheus that should hopefully hurt our heads significantly less than its predecessor. Also, more Alien-style horror.

Hype: Prometheus was problematic, to say the least, but it was actually still pretty good - certainly enough to inspire continued interest in Ridley Scott's Alien timeline, anyway.

This time, we'll see a colonising group of humans accidentally encounter what they think is uncharted paradise, only to find themselves hunted by xenomorphs to near extinction, probably. This time we get two Michael Fassbender performances, which is always nice, but the best thing is that this basically looks like Scott has sneakily remade Alien. And if it's anywhere near as good, we all win.
