8. Solo: A Star Wars Story

Release Date: May 25

Billed As: The origin story of Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), as he teams up with Wookie pal Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), meets a new mentor (Woody Harrelson) and encounters Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) for the first time.

Hype: It's weird that a new Star Wars movie is due out in mere weeks and the hype just doesn't feel there at all, at least compared to the excitement for, say, The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

Though Solo's storied post-production woes have been well-documented, it's still highly unlikely that it ends up anything less than a passably entertaining, three-star blockbuster.

And of course, there's every possibility that with such a stacked cast - also including Thandie Newton and Paul Bettany - and enough high-wire action, it could actually end up a legitimately pleasant surprise.

Let's face it, you're still going to see it even if the reviews compare it to the prequels. At least with Lucasfilm premiering the film at Cannes on May 15th, it seems like they're relatively confident in it being well-received.
