23. Steel (Steel) Steel was seriously nerfed in his movie (which was utterly horrific, by the way) in comparison to the DC comic books version, but he still gets the number 23 spot. Hilariously played by basketball superstar Shaquille O'Neal, Steel (John Henry Irons) is portrayed as a weapons designer in the movie. When his weapons indirectly result in his lab partner becoming a paraplegic, Irons resigns from the world of weapons design. But his weapons subsequently fall in to the hands of a criminal gang and he must build more to combat them as the vigilante Steel. He creates an armoured suit and wields a large steel hammer and some serious firepower. The suit grants him enhanced strength and exceptional durability, enabling him to take down the gang, destroy their lair and deflect a laser back at the gang's leader when he attempts to take him down.
