25 Movies That Would Have Been BETTER As TV Shows

Not every popular TV show finds success immediately, and some are punished by being cancelled without ever really being given a chance. In spite of lasting just one season, Firefly earned itself a loyal army of fans, and two years after the season one finale came Serenity.

The movie, written and directed by Joss Whedon, acted as a conclusion to the show, and it was by no means bad. Certainly it was better for fans of the show than having absolutely nothing after season one, but there can be no denying that it would have been better served as a second season of Firefly.

Maybe this is just a case of greed talking, but with its fan base clamouring for more, there was a lot more life left in the Firefly concept as a whole. Serenity saw the return of the bulk of the main cast, and offered some closure that wasn't given by the end of season one, but it just could have been more.

This was a project made for a very specific group of people, and though it was well-received critically, it flopped hard at the box office, because mainstream audiences had no interest in it. Had this been produced as a second season of Firefly, aimed at its niche audience, it would likely have seen more success.
