25 Shocking CGI Movie Moments That Left You Speechless
15. Almost Every Single Moment - The Jungle Book
For the most part, Disney's obsession with live-action remakes of animated classics is fuelled by cheap nostalgia bait, without actually bringing anything new or meaningful to the table. At their best, they are forgettable and pointless, while at their worst, they are genuinely infuriating. There is one exception.
There has to be a reason behind remaking a movie other than milking a cash cow, which is something Jon Favreau's The Jungle Book actually had. There were a few minor changes to the story, but the driving force behind the film was the realism with which the jungle animals were brought to the screen.
The assumption of live-action being better than animation in these situations is rarely correct, but The Jungle Book was different. This was something completely unseen before in the movie industry, and the effects used to bring the likes of Bagheera, Baloo, Kaa, and Shere Khan (Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, and Idris Elba) to life were nothing short of jaw-dropping.
With Mowgli (Neel Sethi) being the only aspect of the movie not created with special effects, every single scene offered something outstanding. The Lion King underwhelmed three years later with this same technology, partly because The Jungle Book had done it first, but in 2016, this changed the game.
