25 Shocking CGI Movie Moments That Left You Speechless
14. Doctor Strange's Third Eye - Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has come under intense criticism since the end of the Infinity Saga, and many of the major complaints are completely justified. One aspect where the franchise seems to have taken a huge backwards step, for a variety of reasons, is its use of CGI.
2008's Iron Man has already made an appearance on this list, and in theory, it shouldn't be doing anything better in terms of computer technology than something 14 years later, but the Doctor Strange sequel debunked that theory. And this particular entry revolves around something so simple that it should have been the easiest thing in the world to bring to life, similar to Superman's upper lip.
At the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is overcome with a searing pain before a third eye appears on his forehead. Said eye also makes an appearance in the post-credit scene, and it's no exaggeration to say that it looks as though a better job could have been done by anyone on Microsoft Paint.
The effects were laughable, as the eye simply didn't look realistic, which is ironic, since earlier in the film, there was a giant monster that was all eyeball, and was actually based on a scan of Elizabeth Olsen's eye. Clearly, the ability was there to do impressive things, but in this case, either the effort, the time, or neither wasn't.
