4. Tarantino Wanted To Use "My Sharona" For The Basement Sequence

For the infamous rape-revenge sequence in Zed's basement, Tarantino originally wanted to use The Knack's pop hit "My Sharona", but he faced two hurdles which prevented him doing so.

Firstly, the song had just been licensed to the 1994 film Reality Bites, and secondly, a member of The Knack was a born-again Christian, and therefore didn't want the song associated with anal rape. Understandable.

As such, Tarantino was forced to change tack and instead opted for The Revels' 1961 surf rock track "Comanche."

In retrospect, Tarantino has claimed it was for the best, as My Sharona would've been "too cutely comic." He added that Comanche "still works the same. It's kind of funny actually, but it doesn't break the scene."

You can't argue with that.
