25 Things You Didn’t Know About Se7en

4. There Was Going To Be A Sequel

Se7en movie
New Line Cinema

Afonso Poyart's terrible, terrible Solace, filmed in 2013 and released in 2016 to a fanfare of absolutely nothing at all, was originally intended to be retooled into a sequel to Se7en, which would have - hilariously - been called Ei8ht.

New Line eventually dropped the idea, and the script was made as was, into a standalone sh*tflick that barely merited a release. Here’s the trailer. Have a look and thank whatever monstrous, decaying gods you worship that this boll*cks didn’t sully the rep of Fincher’s classic.

Given that this ruined, rotten turd of a movie features a psychic serial killer murdering people with terminal diagnoses to spare them further pain, you do wonder exactly how this particular low concept tickled New Line’s fancy. Was Somerset supposed to be psychic, or was it Mills - or was one of them just going to be the friendly cop that gets killed early on (no, it's not possible to spoil a movie this bad)?

Fortunately, we will never know.
